On the evening of June 16, 2023, the award ceremony for the "2022-2023 AEEDA Asia Educational Environment Design Awards" was grandly held in Shanghai, China. The judging panel was composed of renowned experts from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, India, Australia, the United States, and other regions. They conducted comprehensive, objective, and fair evaluations of the submitted works from multidisciplinary perspectives including architectural design, interior design, pedagogy, psychology, and ergonomics.

Main Members

The works by Sichuan David Design stood out from 326 submitted projects, winning awards in three categories: Campus Architectural Design, Campus Planning and Design, and Learning Space Design.

The judging panel specially presented the "AEEDA Outstanding Designer Award" to Mr. Liu Weibing, the Principal Architect of Sichuan David Design, who has been deeply involved in educational environment design for many years. Mr. Satoru Nagasawa, Chairman of the Judging Committee, personally presented the certificate to him and invited Liu Weibing to deliver a speech at the conference.

In his speech titled "OUT OF THE BUILDING," Liu Weibing reviewed the evolution of his architectural design philosophy over thirty-four years. He reflected on the shifting demands of the times—from focusing on physical spaces to embracing humanistic and green, low-carbon sustainability concepts. He also presented the sustainable design philosophy advocated by David Design, which combines "green, low-carbon principles with regional culture." He called on designers to make more practical explorations in responding to regional climates and creating diverse campus spaces. Liu Weibing's speech received warm applause from the audience. Chairman Satoru Nagasawa commended, "You have eloquently explained the importance of establishing AEEDA."

The Asia Educational Environment Design Awards (hereinafter referred to as "AEEDA Awards") were initiated by the Sino-Foreign Friendship Association for Architectural Cultural Exchange and established with the support of numerous well-known domestic and international industry experts.

It aims to become a specialized international award for educational architecture that embodies professionalism, authority, and influence.
