On September 5, 2025, the results of the AURA Asia Urban Renewal Awards were announced. The Chengdu Electric Power Hardware General Factory Old Site Enhancement and Renovation Project, designed by Sichuan David Design, stood out among numerous entries and won the 2025 AURA Asia Urban Renewal Gold Award in Landscape and Environmental Design! It ranked first on the list. This honor signifies international recognition for Chengdu's design and practice in the field of urban organic renewal.

Perfect Integration of Industrial Heritage and the Modern City

The Chengdu Electric Power Hardware General FactoryOld Site Enhancement and Renovation Project is located in Jinjiang District, Chengdu, originally a abandoned industrial plant. While preserving the historical memory of the industrial site, the Sichuan David Design team innovatively integrated modern design concepts with traditional cultural elements, successfully transforming this old industrial area into a new urban landmark integrating cultural creativity, commercial leisure, and public space.

Project Showcase

The project design retained the original architectural structures and some industrial equipment of the factory site. Through methods such as adding modern landscape structures, introducing ecological greening systems, and creating immersive cultural experience spaces, it achieved a dialogue between industrial history and modern life. The designers skillfully employed light, materials, and spatial language to create an urban space that both respects history and faces the future.

AURA Gold Award Witnesses the Height of Chinese Design

The AURA Asia Urban Renewal Awards (Asia Urban Renewal Awards) aim to seek and discover outstanding projects and development models in the field of urban renewal that are innovative, exemplary, and have promotional value. They commend governance paradigms, works, technologies, and individuals that promote and serve as models for urban sustainable development, functional enhancement, ecological environment improvement, cultural heritage, and refined governance By highlighting, publicizing, and promoting excellent examples, they provide diversified solutions for urban development, lead the high-quality development of urban renewal, and provide a stage for winners to showcase their success and talent. The competition this year was fierce, with over 100 projects from multiple countries participating.

This award is not only an affirmation of the professional capabilities of the Sichuan David Design team but also an important marker of the Chengdu urban renewal model going international. The project has successfully explored new paths for the protection and reuse of industrial heritage, providing referential  "Chengdu experience" for the renewal and transformation of similar cities globally.
