
On March 28, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ambassadorial-level diplomatic relations between China and the United Kingdom, the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) hosted a grand reception dinner at the InterContinental Shanghai Jing'an. Distinguished guests including political figures, professionals from both China and the UK, as well as representatives from institutions such as the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) were invited to attend the event.

Her Excellency Caroline Wilson, British Ambassador to China, delivered a speech at the dinner. Yang Xiaoguang, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, stated that the fundamentals of China’s economy—boasting strong resilience, great potential and robust vitality, and maintaining a sound long-term growth trend—remain unchanged, and China’s development prospects are bright. He added that China has rolled out a series of policies to stabilize and boost the economy, which will surely accelerate the economic recovery and rebound, and China’s super-large market will brim with tremendous vigor and vitality.

Liu Weibing, Executive Director of the Creative Design Center of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Commercial Sub-council, was invited to the grand event and exchanged views with Ambassador Caroline Wilson on advancing the sustainable urban development of China and the UK.
Having long been committed to design practices integrating architectural culture with the ecological environment, Liu Weibing has won numerous awards at national and international levels and garnered wide attention from the contemporary international ecological architecture community. He noted that in this new era of global urban and rural transformation and development, China and the UK should further deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of architectural innovation, particularly in regard to new technologies and concepts for urban regeneration and green building, and he expressed his anticipation for closer collaboration with the UK.
